FromSoftware: No Elden Ring 2, Switch 2 Port and a Mystery New Game

FromSoftware Confirms: No Elden Ring 2 in Development

FromSoftware has officially ruled out the development of Elden Ring 2, putting an end to months of speculation among fans. Studio president Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that a direct sequel is not currently being considered, despite the massive success of Elden Ring.

Speaking during recent industry events and reaffirming statements made throughout 2025, Miyazaki clarified that while the Elden Ring universe remains important to the studio, there are no concrete plans for a sequel. However, he left the door open for potential spin-offs or future projects set in the same world.

A Packed Lineup of Upcoming FromSoftware Games

While Elden Ring 2 may not be happening anytime soon, FromSoftware is far from slowing down. The studio is actively working on multiple new projects set to release in 2026 and beyond.

One of the most anticipated is Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, a Nintendo Switch 2 port of the original game. This version is expected to include additional content and performance improvements tailored for the new hardware. A retail listing has suggested a possible release date of July 10, 2026, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Another major project is The Duskbloods, a multiplayer-focused title reportedly exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. While details remain limited, the game is expected to expand FromSoftware’s design philosophy into a more cooperative or competitive experience.

Additionally, fans of tabletop gaming can look forward to the Elden Ring Nightreign tabletop RPG, scheduled for release in Japan on June 19.

The Mystery of “Project FMC”

Beyond officially announced titles, rumors are circulating about a secret project internally known as Project FMC. According to recent reports, this could be an open-world pirate-themed game, potentially titled Cerulean Onslaught.

The rumored project would feature ship navigation, island exploration, and a new take on open-world design—marking a significant departure from the studio’s traditional dark fantasy settings. However, FromSoftware has not confirmed any details, and the information should be treated as speculation for now.

What This Means for Elden Ring Fans

Although a direct sequel isn’t in development, FromSoftware’s stance suggests the Elden Ring IP is far from abandoned. Spin-offs, expansions, or entirely new interpretations of the universe remain possible in the future.

For now, the studio appears focused on innovation and diversification, exploring new genres and platforms rather than returning immediately to past successes.
