Zoopunk is a new dieselpunk action RPG set in the Animal Punk universe, serving as a full 3D prequel to F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch and focusing on fast, stylish combat with anthropomorphic heroes.

What is Zoopunk?

Zoopunk is a third-person action-adventure RPG developed by TiGames, the studio behind F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch. It shifts the series from 2D metroidvania to a full 3D hack-and-slash experience built in Unreal Engine 5.

Set decades before F.I.S.T., the game expands the Animal Punk universe and tells the turbulent origins of Torch City, an animal metropolis on the brink of revolution. The discovery of a powerful “fire seed” energy triggers a technological boom that spirals into war when mechanical debris awakens as self-aware war machines and turns against its creators.

Story and setting

In Zoopunk, players witness the dawn of the First Torch War as Torch City descends into chaos. Animals from rival factions are forced to unite against a mechanical empire bent on domination, creating a backdrop of rebellion, shifting alliances, and ideological conflict.

Thematically, the game explores the concept of the soul, contrasting animals who see it as innate and inseparable from life with machines that believe it can be copied and learned. Players traverse war‑torn locations such as nomadic mechanic camps, volcanic industrial fortresses, rare sanctuaries, and a crumbling citadel where military order collapses.

Main characters and combat styles

Zoopunk lets players control multiple anthropomorphic heroes, each with a distinct combat identity.

  • Rayton the Rabbit: Agile melee brawler with fast-paced, close‑quarters combos and acrobatic movement.

  • Braton the Rhino: Heavy frontline fighter wielding a massive flame sword, focused on power and defense.

  • Trixie the Chipmunk: Nimble rogue-type who relies on acrobatics, precision strikes, and hit‑and‑run tactics.

Combat is described as fast, expressive, and combo‑driven, with gameplay built around distinct fighting styles inspired by each animal’s traits. Players can chain aerials, dodges, and special abilities, crafting a personalized combat approach for each encounter.

Gameplay features

Zoopunk is presented as a story‑driven action RPG with a strong focus on melee combat. Key features highlighted in the official descriptions and gameplay trailers include:

  • Third-person action focus: A cinematic camera and set‑piece battles move the series away from F.I.S.T.’s side‑scrolling framework.

  • Character switching & synergy: Trailers show Rayton, Braton, and Trixie teaming up to infiltrate enemy strongholds and seize a key resource called the Spark.

  • Dynamic enemy design: Players face robotic beasts, heavily armed mechs, and elite mechanical soldiers, each demanding different tactics.

The extended gameplay footage also teases RPG elements like customization options, skill expression, and AI‑driven NPC systems powered by NVIDIA ACE to make companions more reactive.

Platforms, release window, and trailers

Zoopunk is planned for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5/PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. A specific release date has not yet been announced publicly, but it is presented as an upcoming title revealed during the Xbox Partner Preview in November 2025.
